To save your progress in Stoneshard, you can't just do it anytime you want in the menu, as the player always needs to sleep in a bed. There can only be three saves per character, one of them being the autosave when you're done talking to Verren when you start a new game, and two of them being the last times your character slept.

Valid beds include the one you can use when renting a room in an Inn like the Black Boar Inn in settlements, beds in certain Points of Interest, or the single-use [[Bedroll] which you can buy or craft using the Make a Halt Skill. The player can also sleep at the Caravan.

Sleeping passes time and decreases Fatigue and Pain along with regenerating Morale and Sanity. Not to mistake with the Sleep Status effect.
