Contracts & Tasks
Contracts & Tasks are quests in the world of Stoneshard. All Quests are automatically tracked by the game, you can check their status in your Journal at any time. Clicking an entry in your Journal will set it as your active Quest and the current objective step will be displayed in the top left section of the screen while adventuring.
Main Quest
Main quests track your progress through the game's story. Your character starts the game with the main quest already active. There are currently two main quests in the Early Access version of the game.
Escape the Dungeon is the main quest for the Prologue.
Gathering the Caravan is the main quest for the story for the Adventure Mode.
Contractors
Contractors are the persons that can give you quests and also the person you can talk to claim the reward or break the quest that you accepted. In Rags to Riches, there are 3 types of contractors that will give you different bonus if you claim your reward to them, they are:
- Town Elders - add more reputation to the local settlement (Odar, Knud, One-Eyed Wigmar).
- Captains/Sergeants/Craftsmen - add more crowns to the initial reward.
- Bailiffs/Brynn's Officials - add more reputation to Brynn.
Contracts
Village Contracts are the "official business" type of quests.
- They are always tied to a specific village or town and provided by the village elder, captain/sergeant/craftsmen and official bailiffs that stationed on that settlement.
- Before accepting a quest, you can ask for more information about it, such as: the mini-boss information, the dungeon location and mechanic/situation that might happened inside the dungeon, the time limit, and how much the contractor willing to pay for completing the quest.
- You can haggling for more Crowns, accepting the haggled quests will got you -50 reputation and sometimes the contractor will ask you to finish it in 1 day time limit.
- In Benevolence reputation, you also can ask for front payment, proximately a quarter of the total reward.
- Village Contracts have a time limit in which you have to complete it depending on your actions (haggling) or situations (Competition).
- If you fail to complete the contract in the time limit, the contract will be voided, you get no rewards and you lose some Reputation with the village.
- Contracts must be turned in to the village elder who issued it after completion.
- Completing a contract raises your Reputation with the village and always comes with a fixed reward in Crowns.
The objective may require you free a captive person, bring back quest items, cleanse the dungeon, or simply kill the leader or the entirety of the Dungeon. Sometimes you will be required to bring a proof of your deed. In Rags to Riches, the dungeons got overhauled and most of the quests are added more complexity or specific mechanics inside the dungeon that makes the quests more varied.
Contract Mechanics
Offered contracts are randomly selected from a list of possible Contracts each reset. Each contract is tied to a dungeon and will reset every 4 in-game days. Each elder have up to 3 contracts one after another. One of each type of enemy factions/dungeon
Each contract is tied to a specific Dungeon on the map. When you set a contract as your active quest, the Dungeon in question will become marked with a small red X on your Local Map. Until you complete a contract by turning it in to the village elder, you can enter the Dungeon as many times as you want. Completing the contract will seal the respective dungeon's entrance, so you will be unable to enter until the reset.

The following Tasks can be found in Brynn:

A "Fee" for the Official |
|
Bribery was invented in Brynn, or so the saying goes. Seems plausible: Keremit Lawe, the Guild's bailiff at the leatherworks, is willing to sell me some under the counter gear, but only after I pay him two thousand crowns. | You can buy leatherworks from him in the evening. |
Bribing the Bailiff | Some Brynn officials have grown so complacent that they refuse to take bribes in gold. Noel vir Roan, the bailiff at the carpentry workshop, will not settle for less than a precious gem: a good-sized ruby should get me access to some of the gear they make for the city. |
You can buy woodworks from him in the evening. | |
City of Gold & Corruption |
|
Giles vir Ivet, the Guild's bailiff at the blacksmithing workshop, was agreeable enaugh to promise me access to some of the... surplus goods. All I have to do in return is to find a few items to liven up his desk: a gold candelabrum and an ornate inkpot. I'll also need to bring a bottle of elven ice wine to sweeten the deal. |
You can buy blacksmithing goods from him in the evening. |
