When you do the tutorial it will already learn you your first skill by reading a book but, normal skill in the dungeon don't work like that.

The passive is different for every skill just like the atcive is the passive will give you a bonus like a 100% critical on unaware enemies and some even an extra stat bones like +3 mana. Also in up comming versions(alpha, beta and early acces) there will be extra levels of skill so you can master one skill.

Basics of skills
