Reputation is a measure of your acceptance by people. Mercenaries outside of the times of war were often happy to steal and kill in order to survive, so it's no surprise that the locals view them with suspicion. Each village keeps track of your deeds in the form of reputation and acts accordingly.

As of the Trollslayer update, reputation isn't fully implemented in the game yet. Therefore, the Reputation tab is inaccessible and you cannot check your current reputation status with the villages. However, you will get updates in the chat log whenever your reputation decreases, improves or reaches the next level. This also means that the reputation system will be subject to changes in the future updates.

Reputation types

There are currently two reputation types:

  • Faction reputation
  • Village reputation

There is currently no information about Faction reputation other than that it exists and that one faction is called Grand Magistrate (as indicated by the Heraldic Note description). Using the Heraldic Note instantly awards reputation with both villages in the current Beta, suggesting that both villages are a part of the Grand Magistrate faction.

Both villages Osbrook and Mannshire also track their own village reputation.

Improving reputation

Reputation changes through interacting with NPCs in their respective villages.

Examples:

  • Finishing a contract from the village elders in time will increase reputation.
  • Failing to finish a contract from the village elders in time will decrease reputation.
  • Certain NPC dialogue options that are negative will decrease reputation when chosen.

Currently there are 6 reputation levels:

  • Hatred (-2000 rep)
  • Resentment (-500 rep)
  • Neutrality (0 rep)
  • Benevolence (750 rep)
  • Amity (2000 rep)
  • Respect (4000 rep)

All starting characters begin at Neutrality level. To reach Benevolence, three completed contracts are required.

Reputation effects

Reputation affects buy and sell prices for all shops in the respective village and the quality of available items. The quality depends on the item's level. For example, if you wanted to buy a Pyromancer Staff, you need to reach the Respect reputation level in Mannshire before it starts appearing in the shop.

The following table shows how reputation affects the pricing and item level bonuses.
