World Generation

When a New game is created, the local map is randomly generated. The local map is composed of tiles, where each tile represents one in-game location. Every tile/location is the same size. Currently the player character cannot move past the boundaries of the local map.

The local map will always contain several revealed POIs which are known to the player character, such as the Towns and their surrounding tiles like the Mill or Winery, or the Abbey of the Holy Revelation. Location of these tiles is randomized aswell, but they follow a loose pattern - for example Osbrook is always on the western side of the map, while Mannshire is always on the southeastern side and the Abbey is always in the north/northeastern side. Dungeons are generated semi-randomly - they are always generated a certain distance from Towns. For example, your first (easiest) dungeon will never be on the far side of the map. Forests and Fields are generated randomly and the roads are placed connecting important POIs. Finally, other POIs denoted by the "?" sign are randomly placed onto the local map, becoming part of Forests and Fields. Because they are unknown to the player character, their nature isn't revealed to the player from the start and they only show up as a Point of Interest, but once the player visits their location and discovers what kind of POI it is, they will become revealed on the local map.
