This quest has two possible paths, you can side with Odar and complete this path of you can side with Kromm and save the brewery to buy a few items of interest to make money.

To expose Odar's deeds, you need to ask Jurg about the rumors about Odar. If you've completed Forgotten Plane, he'll tell you for free.

Task Steps Description Reward
Fate of the Brewery

Reach the Brewery
Help the Brewer
Accuse Odar of Lying
Infrom Verren About the Cart

Odar told me that the Oaken Barrel Brewery, the main beer supplier for Osbrook, was captured by brigands.

A lucky conicidence and a bit of inquisitiveness on my part allowed me to discover the truth. It turned out the "brigands" are actually a band of mercenaries, hired by the brewery's owned to protect himself from Odar's extortion.

I decided to side with the brewer and slaughtered Odar's gang. The brewer provided me with a cart and horses - I need to tell Verren about it.

Odar's Dialog

  • "I've got a perfect job for someone with your skills. Not far from Osbrook. you'll find the Oaken Barrel Brewery - that's where Brukk gets his ale from. Or used to until recently..."
  1. *Keep listening*
  • "The place was captured by brigands. I don't plan to negotiate with them, but I also can't force them out with the troops I have at my disposal - we only have a few militiamen here, and leaving the village unprotected is not an option. Can't really count on the Magistrate reinforcements as well."
  1. *Keep listening*
  • "You have enough experience, and you'll only have to fight a handful of bandits - there's much less of them around the brewery than in the fort you've just cleared out. If you succeed, the cart and horses are yours."
  1. I'd like to know what exactly I'm dealing with.
  2. I'm on it.
  • "We don't know much either. A few days ago Brukk sent a cart to the brewery to purchase another shipment of ale, but the driver returned terrified and empty-handed."
  1. *Keep listening*
  • "He told us he spotted a group of bandits milling around the building. He turned back just in time, otherwise he wouldn't be here to share this story."
  1. *Keep listening*
  • "When I sent a few guards to scout it out, they confirmed that there indeed were five or six brigands on the brewery premises."
  1. *Keep listening*
  • "I have no idea what happened to the place's owners. All dead, I suppose."
  1. What can you tell me about the gang?
  • "Hell if I know... I bet those are the scumbags that murdered Dwar, our previous miller, and then tried to squeeze money and supplies out of the rest of the village."
  1. *Keep listening*
  • "We managed to chase them off that time - they fled to the woods, but now it seems like they are back for vengeance."
  1. I see. Got to make sure I'm well-prepared...
  • "Anything else?"
  1. I'm on it.
  • "Good. Find me once you're done."

Odar's Confrontation

  1. "About the brewery..."
  • "Well?"

Side with Odar

  1. 'I've cleared it out."

Side with Kromm/none

  1. "You thought you could pull a fast one on me, huh?"
  • "What are you talking about? It's fair deal: you kill the brigands, and I..."
  1. "Enough with your games. I've been to the brewery and i know the truth."
  • "How about you enlighten me then?"
  1. "I know that there were no brigands in the brewery, and that you rub elbows with actual thugs, using them to seize the bussinesses for yourself"
  2. "Stop stalling. You already know what I'm talking about."
  • "Who are you to judge me? You're just a mercenary, and you're to do what you're being paid for."
  1. *Keep listening*
  • "In this case you're being paid to make sure there's no one left alive in or around the brewery. I'm not obligated to tell you more than you need to know."

Side with Kromm

  1. "Let me put it this way. I can get to Brynn even without your cart, and once i'm there, I don't think the Magistrate will be happy to learn about a village leader running his own gang."

Side with none

  1. "That's where you're wrong. You should never lie when discussing terms of a contract. I couldn't care less about your pretty squabbles, I've already done my part. But unless you want the officials in Brynn to learn about your schemes, you'll have to pay extra."
  • *Odar opens his mouth to say something, but goes quite*
  1. *Keep listening*
  • "How much do you want for your silence?"

Side with Kromm

  1. "I want you to leave Kromm and his brewery alone."
  2. "500 crowns, and it'll stay between us. But don't expect my help with the brewery. I'm a mercenary, not a hired thug."

Side with none

  1. "A cart, two horses, and 1000 crowns on top. That's my final offer."
