Skinning is a Survival Skill that allows you to extract and process meat and skins from killed animals.
- For now the skinning process is simplified - Skinning only requires you to have one of the 5 listed weapon types in your inventory. When standing near the corpse of an animal, you can use the Skinning skill, spending one turn.
- The loot you will receive from Skinning varies:
- The pelt + meat + other loot (like horns or tusks).
- Just meat + other loot.
- Nothing at all.
- The player character comments upon not receiving the pelt or anything at all, vaguely explaining the reason.
- Killing animals with Unholy, Poison and Caustic damage types will almost always cause the meat to spoil. Arcane damage type spoils the meat too, but less often.
- Killing animals with Fire damage type might cause the meat to become cooked.
- Currently all animals are skinnable.
Skinning mechanics
The Skinning mechanics are as follows:
- Each pelt has a hidden HP number, which decreases each time the animal receives damage.
- If the pelt's hidden HP is too low when the animal is killed, you won't get any pelt from skinning.
- Damage to the pelt is multiplied from certain damage types. Fire deals more damage to pelts than Slashing, which deals more damage than Piercing or Crushing.
- Bleeding damage doesn't damage the pelt at all.
