It offers no value unless carried in the cloak slot, since it cant be carried in inventory while having items inside.
Opening the backpack takes a turn, so it is not advisable to keep any items you may need to use in combat stored within it.

Can be found in the Hermit's Hut in the Mannshire area. It will be marked on your map even if you haven't discovered it yet by accepting the task, Herbalist for Mannshire.
Unique Properties
The Herbalist Bag has the same amount of free space as a Knapsack but in a 2x6 configuration in addition to it's 12 devoted slots. This makes it well suited to holding a variety of small items. Each of the devoted slots holds a single unstacked item and they must be of a strict 1x2 size.
The Herbalist Bag uses 6 devoted 1x2 "Bottle" slots on the top row that can be used for a variety of different things including,
- All types of Alcohol (needs testing)
- Bottles of Oil
- Drugs
- Empty Glass Bottles
- Glass Bottles full of water
- Potions
This Bag also uses 6 devoted 1x2 "Herb" slots which are more limited and can hold,
- Any gathered Herb
- Unharvested Lintels
Tips
The Herbalist Bag can be very useful for survival especially in the early and mid game. This is achieved by stocking food, water, and utility items in larger amounts than other bags found at the time.
It can hold several bottles of water or oil in the bottle slots for both hydration, fire suppression, and establishing Electricity or Fire damage vulnerability. Lintel plants can be stored in the herb slots for emergency rations. Alternatively Mindwort can be carried to boost sanity and Henbane can be used before a fight to give you an edge in combat. Finally, the free space can be used to hold a large amount of medical supplies like splints, antitoxin, herbal remedies, leaches, or other small items.
