Either way, that's enough of me listing my accomplishments. If you read this tome, then you are most likely a man of science as well, already closely familiar with my research. Let's get down to it then.

...The aforementioned experiments demonstrate, that a major part of the entirety of all existing matter contains an intangible, volatile substance called phlogiston. When matter is affected by fire, there is a complex chemical reaction, resulting in matter releasing phlogiston, the very substance which fuels the flames. For instance, wood is nothing but a mix of ashes and phlogiston, metal is a combination of phlogiston and calx, and stone doesn't contain any phlogiston at all. Living creatures consist of blood and phlogiston, the latter is actually present in large quantities - that's why fire is so harmful to all things living. But there is a silver lining: it would probably be impossible for us to perform pyromancy otherwise.
