Book content
Nistrian warfare is a rather curious discipline. No one else employs such a peculiar combination of antique traditions, modern tactical ideas, all seasoned with a good dash of magic. We don't usually mix these things in Aldor: there are noble knights, lowborn archers, and mages, which might as well be treated as a separate estate.##Take the Keepers, for instance - the elite guard unit defending His Highness Lord Protector. Only the best of the best can join, and the recruits are being trained not only in melee combat, but magic as well. More often than not, it's geomancy, its spells being considered to be the most useful to a warrior.##The Keepers' weapon of choice is a heavy polehammer, which they wield with an utmost agility, brilliantly performing a variety of strikes. Once I even had a chance to observe a sparring between two Keepers - and I've got to say, it was a spectacle to remember!
