Abbey of the Holy Revelation on the Global Map
Abbey of the Holy Revelation on the paper map

The Abbey of the Holy Revelation is a unique POI that is always present on the Global Map. This is an important location in the plot of both the Prologue and the main game. The Abbey is old enough to be marked on pre-war paper maps. True, in modern times it is much more dilapidated.

Prologue

Description

One of the reinforced doors

Verren begins his thorny path in Dilapidated Cells, the dungeons under the Abbey. They include prison quarters, an armory, a corridor with reinforced doors, a guardhouse with signs of a fight, and a hole leading to the Archives where complete chaos reigns. From there there is an entrance to the Old Catacombs. It is connected to the next floor, Abbey Cellars, by a cave with a Underground Waterfall in which you can quench your Thirst, and the corpse of a nameless mercenary. After ascending to Corrupted Chapel, the passage back will collapse. Here Verren will meet the first Boss of the game - the Archon, who committed a real massacre for a mystical ritual. The Proselyte holds the remaining caravan followers (Rynward, Ahruz and Darrel) in hanging cages. After the fight with the monster and their rescue, Verren leaves the Abbey.

Properties

  • The Dilapidated Cells is guarded by unique Enemies of this location, three Cultists, but they do not pose much of a threat even to a lame old man.
  • Dilapidated Cells contain the corpses of two of Verren's comrades: Locke and Bern. It is unknown what their role was in the old caravan.
  • The following documents can be found at the Dilapidated Cells and Archives: Monastic Book and three Diary Pages. On the body of the mercenary in the cave is an Old Contract from the late headman of Mannshire. Abbot's Note is located in Corrupted Chapel.
  • If you light a Campfire, a unique ambient begins to play in the cave, which, unfortunately, no longer appears in the game.
  • The known brothers of the monastery are: Albert, Irve and Iner. Apparently the abbot of the monastery was called Vidian.

Main game

Description

Locked gate
This is where Verren and his caravan came in search for the Stoneshard. The deceptively quiet ruins turned out to be a den of crazed cultists, the encounter with whom cost many men their lives.

In the main game, the mercenary can visit the Abbey of the Holy Revelation again. However, the territory is largely inaccessible.

Rumors

Defiled Monastery

There are ruins of an old monastery not far from Mannshire. When the plague came, the monks refused to help people and retreated into the caverns under the building. And they hid so well that they got lost in the tunnels for good, no word from them ever since. Eh, serves them right. The monastery has been cursed ever since, so it's best to avoid it - I heard the whole place is infested with restless spirits.

Properties

  • Part of the territory is blocked by a locked gate, behind which, however, one can see a damaged well, two dilapidated huts and a descent into the dungeons of the Abbey. Now there's nothing important there, just Mushrooms and Junk.
  • In the Corrupted Chapel, someone moved a cart with corpses. Beneath it lies a unique Hand Amulet.
  • According to the Gwynnell Library, the abbey kept a miraculous relic for many centuries - the Stone of the Holy Revelation.
