NPCs is an abbreviation for Non-Player Characters, meaning any creatures that you can meet in the world of Stoneshard. NPCs can have various roles and act according to them.

Friendly NPCs

Friendly NPCs are creatures you can interact with, usually talk or trade. Most friendly NPCs are other humanoids commonly concentrated in Towns, but there are exceptions - for example Ida the Witch, who resides in the Witch's Hut, her solitary abode. Most friendly NPCs have a specific role or profession assigned. Most friendly NPCs are also willing to trade, usually offering food or more specific goods or services.

Animals

Animals are NPCs that roam the plains and forests. They will react to the player, being curious at first and running away when sensing danger. These can be hunted for Food and pelts or horns.

Enemies

Enemies are all creatures that will attack you on sight. There are many different kinds of enemies and each comes with their own set of priorities and Skills they can use. Enemies of a certain type cooperate together (for example, Wolves form packs), but they may not cooperate with enemies of a different type (for example, Wolves and Bandits will attack each other).
